Master’s in Education Programs in Arizona
In Arizona, classroom teachers are required to have a Structured English Immersion, English as a Second Language, or bilingual endorsement. This requirement stands whether you want to teach elementary school or a technical vocation. To receive the endorsement, teachers are required to take training courses to help them learn how to work with English language learners. One of the ways in which students can become certified is to take graduate courses in Structured English Immersion (SEI). Teachers who take these courses may want to continue their coursework to receive a master’s degree in education as well.
At Arizona State University, which has four campuses across Arizona, teachers can not only earn their master’s degrees in education, but they can also take the SEI courses required for their mandatory endorsement. Grand Canyon University also offers the SEI courses, along with a Master of Education program for teachers who are not yet certified. This Phoenix-based Christian university features a state-of-the art campus complete with an aquatics center and a bowling alley. At the University of Arizona in Tucson, students can fulfill their SEI requirements and move on to a master’s in bilingual education. SEI courses are also offered at the university’s south branch.
